Solo show presented by Fonds Carta at Le 33, Marseille

“Warde likes to introduce narrative tropes into his work (here by the exhibition title which refers to a scene in the film Down by Law by Jim Jarmush) and playing with the balance of power and the effects of attraction and repulsion of urban spaces. Charlie Warde combines painting with objects that he finds, like stones, building materials or ammunition shell casings, fetishizing their meaning, making them as seductive as an unopened ice cream cones. This particular transposition follows other examples in urban space: Great Britain had used the land holding decommissioned housing on military bases for the construction of new public housing”
